Welcome: Welcome to the LSNA NCPD (nursing continuing professional development) Unit.

 

Our mission is to support Louisiana nurses in ensuring provision of quality and timely continuing nursing education and nursing professional development opportunities.

 

As an Accredited Approver through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), we approve both individual educational activities as well as provider units to award accredited continuing nursing education contact hours. Internationally recognized credit for nurses that can be used in professional development, licensure requirements, and certification maintenance.

Individual Activity Approval

 

Individuals and organizations can seek approval of individual educational activities (IEA) to award CNE contact hours. Eligibility requirements must be met by the applicant, and educational design principles outlined in accreditation required criteria must be demonstrated in the application.

Below is a listing of required documents to be completed by the applicant as well as the fee structure. Also provided below is guidelines for successful IEA approval. Complete IEA applications should be submitted within 60 days of activity. For expedited applications, increase in fee will be applied as indicated. Louisiana State Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Approved Provider Unit

 

Individuals or organizations can seek approval as a provider unit of nursing continuing professional development. An approved provider unit (APU) is “defined structurally and operationally as the members of the organization who support the delivery of CNE activities” (ANCC, 2015, p. 41). Eligibility requirements must be met by the applicant, and evidence to adhering to structural capacity and quality outcomes, as well as educational design principles must be demonstrated in the application. Approved provider units are eligible for status a maximum of three (3) years

Timelines for submission of required documentation and fees for approval of providers units are as follows:
